{"id":312,"date":"2015-06-05T16:26:12","date_gmt":"2015-06-05T16:26:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ulmsblogs.wordpress.com\/?p=312"},"modified":"2016-03-21T20:07:36","modified_gmt":"2016-03-21T20:07:36","slug":"proms-lead-up-wind-band","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ulms.org.uk\/blogs\/2015\/06\/05\/proms-lead-up-wind-band\/","title":{"rendered":"Proms Lead Up &#8211; Wind Band!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Not that long left until Proms (15 days in fact!) so these band focus posts are going to be a bit closer together than they have been so far &#8211; I hope you can keep up with all the blog posts at the minute!<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">The Woodwind section working hard in rehearsal<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-297 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/ulms.org.uk\/blogs\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2016\/03\/dsc_0962.jpg?w=300\" alt=\"DSC_0962\" width=\"505\" height=\"341\" \/><\/p>\n<p>A popular ensemble, the ULMS Wind Band consists of Woodwind, Brass and Percussion players (who technically aren&#8217;t Wind players, but we&#8217;ll let them off this once!), and plays a range of pieces from pieces from musical and movie soundtracks, to pieces written specifically for Wind Bands.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">A view from the front of the band, the sort of thing you might see if you come to Proms!<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-292 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/ulms.org.uk\/blogs\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2016\/03\/dsc_0967.jpg?w=300\" alt=\"DSC_0967\" width=\"539\" height=\"366\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Usually the largest of ULMS&#8217;s ensembles, Wind Band can be heard around the Great Hall area on Tuesday nights reproducing some well-known favourites as well as the occasional piece that is less recognisable!<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">The formidable Brass section!<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-286\" src=\"https:\/\/ulms.org.uk\/blogs\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2016\/03\/dsc_0973.jpg?w=300\" alt=\"DSC_0973\" width=\"541\" height=\"365\" \/><\/p>\n<p>For Proms this year Wind Band is playing a medley of songs from the 2007 film Stardust, as well as Dundonnell, which is the finale from Hymn of the Highlands.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">A closer look at the Woodwind section<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-300 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/ulms.org.uk\/blogs\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2016\/03\/dsc_0959.jpg?w=300\" alt=\"DSC_0959\" width=\"521\" height=\"354\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Percussion making itself heard in the background!<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-296 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/ulms.org.uk\/blogs\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2016\/03\/dsc_0963.jpg?w=300\" alt=\"DSC_0963\" width=\"578\" height=\"393\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Join the Facebook event for ULMS Proms to be kept up to date will all Proms related developments!<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/events\/1492525584301495\/\" rel=\"nofollow\">https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/events\/1492525584301495\/<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Tickets can be ordered NOW by emailing our Treasurer, Joseph Brownless, at ulms.treasurer@lancaster.ac.uk with the quantity and type of ticket you want!
