My name is Cymbal, and I’m a first year Mechatronic Engineering Student. I am writing this as an application for the Swing Rep position.

I am a percussionist with over 13 years of experience on the drumkit as well as around working amongst the percussion team. In the 13 years, I have experiment around various different genre, starting from rock and pop music to jazz and ballad and ultimately to Progressive Metal genre.

Some of the achievements of my musical carriers includes the following: First live performance at Hardrock Hotel Bali (2013) Grade 8 Rock and Pop – Drumkit with a Distinction (2021) Won multiple London Young Musician Gold awards (2021-2022) NCBF Big band Best section awards (2021-2022, 2022-2023) NCBF Jazz Band best section awards (2021-2022) Additionally, I am able to play multiple ATCL diploma level pieces, as well as 1 FTCL diploma level piece.

As a percussionist I’ve learnt to perform as a group with others to get the best sound effect there is as a group. Additionally in the Jazz band, I’ve typically got put for the usual percussion equipment like the tambourine, shakers, and bongo. However, I am also capable of playing on the Vibraphone, where I have had to learn the keys changes and the scales, to show off a solo whilst competing with the Jazz Band.

I understand that in Swing Group, the genre that the band typically go for are in the genre of Jazz and Pop, which I am reasonably proficient at in this recent time. If I ever get picked for this position, here are the number of things that I would do to enhance the performance of this band completely: I know what it means for different instruments to produce an exceptional sound so I will be looking at the details that get commonly overlooked at in each individual pieces. I will be asking people to be as arrogant as possible when it comes to performing their solo, but to be as humble as possible when we get of stage. I also will use my performance knowledge to aid the band to make them look grander.

Ultimately, my aim is not for the band to make some noise. I’m looking to push the band in a direction where those beautifully played notes will get recognize by the passers nearby, as Swing Group’s.

Do note that I am very limited to my knowledge with regards to jazz music, so I’m open to any request, as long as our current conductor is happy with the music.

I look forward to being your Swing Group Rep.

Swing Group Rep Cymbal Nithimapinan Good Morning, Good Afternoon and Good Evening to those who are reading this!
