Wind Band is an ensemble which welcomes all woodwind players, brass players, and classical percussionists; and every year we audition for two conductors.
We rehearse every Tuesday during term time from 6:30-8:30pm in the Jack Hylton Room (JHR).
We don’t require you to audition for a place in the band and also have a small number of instruments available for you to use if you haven’t brought your own to uni or want to try out something new!
We play a variety of music from classical wind band piece and marches to film and musical soundtracks.
Every year we play in the Christmas and summer concerts as well as in the annual WindBrass concert with the Brass Band where we end with a joint performance from both ensembles. We also play in Ballet and Ballroom Charity Showcases which raise money for different charities each year.
