String Orchestra welcomes all ability players on violin, viola, cello, and double bass; and every year we audition for two conductors.
Our rehearsals are every Monday during term time from 6:30-8:30pm in the University Chaplaincy Centre.
We don’t require you to audition for a place in the orchestra, and we also have a small number of instruments available for you to use if you haven’t brought your own to uni or want to try out something new!
Every year we play in the ULMS Christmas Concert and Summer Showcase; hold the Michaelmas Concert with Choir and Concerto Concert with Soloists; and join Big Band to form Jazz Orchestra in the Castle Concert at Lancaster Castle.
