Brass Band

Brass Band welcomes players on cornet (trumpets accepted), flugelhorn, tenor horn, baritone horn, euphonium, trombone, basses/tuba, and percussion; and every year we audition for two conductors.

Our rehearsals are every Wednesday during term time from 6:30-8:30pm in the Jack Hylton Room (JHR).

We don’t require you to audition for a place in the band but will hold auditions for front row and solo cornets. We also have a small number of instruments available for you to use if you haven’t brought your own to uni or want to try out something new!

We play a range of traditional marches, hymns, film/musical scores and pop arrangements.

Every year, the band takes part in the ULMS Christmas Concert, Castle Concert at Lancaster Castle, Summer Showcase with the other ensembles as well as the WindBrass concert with the Wind Band.

The Brass Band also competes every year in the annual UniBrass competition against other university brass bands (where we have been winners in the Shield Section); and Whit Friday (where we have won best university band).

Other opportunities include marching at events near Lancaster and carolling around Christmas.
