Publicity Officer
Oliver Swindles & Natasha Harris
(Running as a Pair)
Hi, I’m Oliver, a first year studying Computer Science with a minor in French. I have loved being a part of ULMS so far, especially playing Bari Sax in Big Band, and recently also playing in Swing Group and Wind Band. I’ve been playing cello and sax for years, and to be able to continue them in such a great society has been a dream. Being a Publicity Officer, alongside Natasha, would be an amazing experience and challenge that I’d love to take on. I have experience designing in Figma and also building websites in my spare time, and having the opportunity to give back to the society would be amazing. Designing posters, social posts, programs, website updates, and everything else that comes with this role is a responsibility that I believe me and Natasha will do fantastic job of.
Hello everyone, I’m Natasha, a first-year German and Linguistics student. I’ve been playing the trombone and piano since I was six and have probably been singing since before I could talk! Since coming to university, I have thrown myself into as many music groups as possible, allowing me to experience ULMS from a variety of perspectives—playing in Big Band, Choir, Brass, Chamber, and, more recently, Wind Band.
Music has always played a huge role in my life, from participating in big bands, choirs, concert bands, and orchestras to performing at venues such as Cheltenham Jazz Festival, the Royal Albert Hall, and Birmingham Symphony Hall.
The role of Publicity Officer appeals to me because I am super artsy and would really enjoy designing posters, social media updates, and concert programs to create funky advertising throughout the year. Alongside Oliver, I would love to contribute to the society by adding a little sparkle here and there! If elected, I would also love to jazz up the ULMS board by the Medici and give it a bit of pizzazz!
Social Secretary
Louis Peckham
Hi everyone, my name is Louis and I am a first year undergraduate Geography student. I have been in this society since October and I play cello in the strings ensemble. Since starting in this society I have wanted to be a part of committee to help this society operate in the best way possible. I believe that I will make a good social sec as it is my prerogative to deliver socials that cater to as many people as possible. My main promise is to listen to people’s suggestions on socials to be delivered in the programme, with a blend of some old favourites with new suggestions to make ULMS enjoyable for all.
Technician
Luke Offer
Hiya, I’m Luke. I’m a 2nd year Architecture student and I’m running for Technician. I’ve been a part of ULMS since the start of 1st year and have tried being in as many groups, bands and orchestras as possible, meeting lots of great people and playing some fantastic music. I’ve been playing music for just over 15 years, starting on the piano, violin and more recently trying the baritone sax, cello and contra-bassoon with a few others along the way. Music is a big part of my life and an amazing way for me to give back would to as many people as possible be to join ULMS’ exec as Technician.
Technician is a great way to be able to help and facilitate people to learn new instruments and to be able to share my ideas to help the society as a whole. I’ve had plenty of experience being a technician and assisting in the running of societies while at uni as I have been the President and technician for Folk society this year, have stepped in to do tech for Rock soc on occasion, have assisted with tech and handling of equipment for shows run by Theatre Group and so would love to share and use this experience to help the running of ULMS. I have also had plenty of experience outside of uni where I’ve looked after and supervised lots of equipment and having done an A level on sound, recording and music I have all the knowledge necessary for capturing ULMS’ amazing concerts and performances.
Thank you for reading and I hope to help and make ULMS the best society it can be.
