Social Sectetary
Dominic Doyle and Nur Hidayah Johanizam (running as a pair)
Hi, I’m Dominic and I’m a first year English Literature and History student. I have really enjoyed being part of ULMS since October in both wind band, playing the clarinet, and choir. Having loved getting involved in music before at school in charity shows, musicals and concerts, it would be great to help welcome others into this wonderful community and encourage current members across different ensembles to meet up as co-social sec. I will also bring my organisational and teamwork skills to the role, with experience collaborating in drama productions, writing articles as part of the Young Reporter Scheme and working as a history ambassador. As this is a demanding role, I think running as a pair with Dayah will ensure we prepare the socials effectively between us. I hope that we can help continue to make ULMS as fun and friendly of a society as possible. Thank you for reading!
Hi, I’m Dayah and I am a second-year accounting & finance student. I’ve been a member of the brass band since first year and I have played the trombone for almost 9 years now as I was previously a member of my high school Wind Orchestra! Being in this society has been an enjoyable experience for me, I remember vividly how warm the welcome was when I first joined ULMS and I hope with my past experiences, I’m able to foster a similar environment as I am genuinely passionate about creating not only a vibrant but also inclusive social atmosphere! I have honed my ability to manage various responsibilities and work effectively in dynamic environments such as event planning and effective communication. I have successfully organized events that brought people together, ensuring a smooth and enjoyable experience for everyone. I am eager to bring my skills to ensure that our social events are not only well-executed but also truly enjoyable for everyone involved. As your social secretary, I would like to bring new warm ideas such as a monopoly pub crawl, poster bar crawl, and meme contest. I look forward to the chance to be one of your social secretaries!
Publicity Officer
Declan Ricketts and Alex Cooper (running as a pair)
Hi I’m Declan; if you don’t know me by now I’m a second year Environmental science student. I was previously one of the social secretaries while not feeling physically up to it. This shows my commitment to the society which I hope to continue with Alex as publicity officers. I have always had a thing for photography especially after coming in 2nd and 3rd place in some amateurs photography competitions when I was younger. I want to run with Alex as I believe with his graphic design skills and my photography and ideas can work together to make sure everyone knows about our society and everything we have to offer from ptm and small groups to all the 7 major ensembles. I have always been very organised and loved using social media.
Hi, I’m Alex, I’m a first-year geography student in my second year at Lancaster, and I play the saxophone in wind, swing, big, and sax choir. Music has been a passion for me for most of my life, and I’ve very much enjoyed my time in ULMS so far. I’m keen to do what I can to help with society be the best it can be, and I believe running for Publicity Officer alongside Declan is a fantastic opportunity for us to help the society run as smoothly as it does. I think with our combined efforts we can ensure the fantastic work of previous publicity officers is maintained and built upon. If elected I look forward to a fun year of collaboration within the committee and the society itself, and I hope to help wherever I can elsewhere too. Thanks for reading
Technician
Aylin Turgut
Hi!
I am Aylin, a 1st year physics with astrophysics student. I have been playing guitar for 7 years: 3 years of classical and 4 years of electric. I used to be in a rock band back at home in İstanbul. I play guitar in big band. This is my first time playing jazz and I fell in love with it. I am grateful to be playing with all these amazing musicians. I would like to contribute to hearing awesome music by becoming the technician. I have experience in recording and composing with Logic Pro X and editing videos with Davinci Resolve. I used to be in the media and journalism club in high school, so I edited lots of interviews and animations. Being a guitar player also got me interested in learning how my instrument and others work since there are many components, and the guitar design is constantly evolving which is sometimes inspired by other instruments. These experiences make me suitable for the technician role and I plan to give my 100%. Thanks for reading 🙂
