This final blog in our ‘Meet the Committee’ series for 2021/22 introduces you to all the other members, whose roles are slightly more difficult to group together – but are no less important! Enjoy!
Smalls Groups Rep

Yasmin Bascal
At a glance:
Degree: Fine Art, second year
Instruments: Clarinet, saxophone
Ensembles: Wind Band, Orchestra, Swing Group
Hello, my name is Yasmin and I am a second year Fine Art student. I play the clarinet, saxophone and a little bit of piano. So far I have played in wind band, orchestra and swing band alongside the small groups clarinet choir and saxophone choir. In my free time I love belting (badly!) along to showtunes, and volunteering with Girlguiding. I am looking forward to another year of ULMS, hopefully with less lockdown this time!
PTM Coordinator

Nia Evans
At a glance:
Degree: Biomedicine, second year
Instruments: French horn, piano
Ensembles: Wind Band, Orchestra
Hi, I’m Nia and I am about to start my second year studying Biomedicine at Lancaster. Over the past year I have been involved in wind band and orchestra both online and in person! I play the French horn and piano and have been in lots of ensembles before coming to Lancaster. Outside of ULMS, I enjoy exploring the outdoors, going to the beach, reading and being a leader with Girlguiding. I am really looking forward to being able to play again and see everyone.
As PTM coordinator I will be in charge of the Project Teach Music aspect of ULMS. PTM allows students to both teach and have lessons with other students.
Socials Secretaries

James Cheam-Smith
At a glance:
Degree: German and Italian, second year
Instruments: Voice, Classical guitar
Ensembles: Choir
Hi! I’m James, one of the Social Secretaries for ULMS this year. I’m a German and Italian student going into 2nd year and I play classical guitar. I’ve been playing since I was 11 and have always loved the buzz of playing and socialising with like-minded, musical people. In my spare time, I’m an avid cook and ‘professional-level’ Netflix binger. I hope to see you all at an ULMS Social soon!

Isha Robbie
At a glance:
Degree: Natural Sciences, second year
Instruments: Voice, clarinet
Ensembles: Choir, Big Band, Wind Band
Hi! My name is Isha and I’m one of the two ULMS social secretaries. I’m in my second year of natural sciences. I mostly sing, in the choir and big band, but I also play clarinet in the wind band and swing group. Outside of the society, I sing in the choir at the Lancaster Priory. I hope to see you soon at an ULMS social!
Publicity Officer

Beth Cook
At a glance:
Degree: English Language, 3rd year
Instruments: Flute, piano
Ensembles: Wind Band
Hi, I’m Beth and I’ll be continuing on as Publicity Officer, having already held the role with last year’s Committee. I’ve been playing music for about 11 years now, and play the flute in the Wind Band and Flute Choir. Outside of ULMS I love to swim, go to pub quizzes and play the bassoon – I’m not particularly good at either of the last two, but I’m working on it!
I’m really excited to have a more normal year on the ULMS Committee and to meet our new members in person.
Congrats if you made it this far – that’s it for our ‘Meet the Committee’ series for this academic year! Hope you enjoyed getting to know us a little better, and we’ll be back soon!
