It’s almost Christmas!

It’s week 8 of term already! The weeks have flown by and the freshers have had plenty of time to settle into their ensembles. The only thing this can mean now is that the run up to Christmas is quickly on it’s way!

To kick things off, Friday 2nd December is the Small Groups Showcase social at 7.30pm in County Bar https://www.facebook.com/events/653985164770614/ . This social gives the chance for small groups to show off what they can do and will therefore be a fun night of music for everyone to enjoy!

Whilst rehearsals continue for the Christmas concert, the Brass Band will also spend Thursday 8th December at 6pm at the castle playing some carols for the Carols in the Castle event organized by the Christian Union https://www.facebook.com/events/1016683365126201/ . Hopefully the weather will hold out unlike last year and this will be a pleasant evening of Christmas carols!

Sunday 11th December will then be the Christmas Ball, one of the best socials of the year, with a three course meal and plenty of Christmas tunes for all to enjoy! https://www.facebook.com/events/358434001163931/

The final week of term will be host to our two Christmas concerts. The first will be Jingle Bell Jazz on Tuesday 13th December at Apothecary at 7pm which will feature our Big Band, Swing Group and the small group Jazz Combo. This will be a free event so there’s no reason not to come! https://www.facebook.com/events/1144944405591091/

The second event will be the traditional Christmas Concert at the Cathedral on Wednesday 14th December also at 7pm. This will feature the remaining main ensembles: Brass Band, Choir, String Orchestra, Symphony Orchestra and Wind Band and will have plenty of Christmas carols for everyone to sing along to! https://www.facebook.com/events/194782810976072/

And finally, to finish off the year, the caroling bar crawl will be taking place on Thursday 15th December at 8.30 starting at Grad Bar. This will feature the brass band playing carols, some singing and of course, plenty of drinks! https://www.facebook.com/events/140620213070111

So after all these events, you’ll surely be in the Christmas spirit, even if you’re not ready to leave ULMS behind to go home for Christmas! But make sure you have fun in these last couple of weeks!christmas-picture
