Wednesday 24th February, 6pm, Jack Hylton Room – ULMS AGM
At our annual AGM we have a yearly society report from the President and a yearly treasury report from the Treasurer, and we also elect our Committee for the year to come. This means that at this event we hear speeches from candidates for each role, and then the audience is allowed to ask them questions. After all speeches and questions have taken place, all current members of ULMS are allowed to vote on who they would like in each position of the Committee. Results are usually counted and released by the end of the night (but we don’t make you hang around to find out!). This year will be the first where all positions will be filled using the new voting system we approved at our AGM last year (exciting!). Nominations and details of the nomination process and what it all involves will be circulated soon, but if you’re thinking of running now is a good time to pester current Committee on what their roles involve. A facebook event will be set up soon, so look out for that for more information. If you’re looking for more information on what a role involves you can also check out our website, which has the duties of each role listed on it.
(Provisional) Saturday 27th February, 7pm, Great Hall – Concerto Concert
The date is not yet completely confirmed, but this is the day we hope to hold our annual Concerto Concert, featuring a concerto performed by one of our ULMS members. This is a great chance for some of our members to show off their individual talents, and we hope that you will come along to support them in this – plus, its always nice to hear good music! This concert also usually acts as the handover concert – as such the concert will be run by both the outgoing and incoming Committees, so that the new Committee can be eased into their roles, with the old Committee around to help out if needed. As this date is not yet solid, the programme and facebook event are yet to be confirmed, but will be circulated in due course.
Saturday 19th March, 7.30pm, Great Hall – Alumni Concert
This exciting venture is an opportunity for all Lancaster’s Music graduates and/or former members of ULMS (or both!) to come back to Lancaster and take part in an alumni concert. The concert will feature ULMS Alumni along with current ULMS members, and will involve Symphony Orchestra, Wind Band, Choir and Big Band. We would love to see you there – there is still time to sign up (link below), and if you’re either not an alumni or not up for playing again then we would still love for you to come along and see the show – whether you’re alumni, current student, or just a member of the public! Tickets will be £10 for adults, £7 for concessions (excluding students) & £5 for students/under 26s, and can be purchased on the Lancaster Arts website (linked below). More information on the event can be found on the eventbrite link, and also on the ULMS Alumni facebook page, which also posts regular updates.
